Tony DziepakSenior EconomistThe MITRE Corporation
Doctoral Student (ABD)
I am a practicing economist at MITRE's Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD), which is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC). I attempt to apply my graduate training to current issues in the transportation sector in general, and in the aviation industry in particular. CAASD's sponsor and main client is the Federal Aviation Administration. Previously, I was an economist at the Federal Aviation Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation. I hope to finish my dissertation on "Experiments in Location Games," with the support of MITRE's Advanced Degree Program. My Curriculum Vitae | my short bio My Research interests include experimental economics, industrial organization (IO), and microeconomics. Work at MITRE CAASD is focused on transportation economics--specifically, the aviation industry. I use my IO knowledge for following business trends that would affect the aviation industry and the FAA's ability to manage the aviation infrastructure. Current topics include the effect of low-cost carrier market entry, airline and hub consolidation, the transatlantic market, user fee proposals, airport arrival slot auctions, congestion fees, fare pricing strategy, cost considerations (labor, fuel, etc), and environmental considerations (noise, emissions). I also do some forecasting. My Links |
